The Army Combat Uniform (ACU) is the replacement for the BDU (Battle Dress Uniform) in the US Army.  The new Universal Camouflage is designed to be deployable in a wider range of environments then the Woodland camouflage which it replaces.  Besides the change in camouflage pattern, the shirt has also undergone several major design changes to enhance functionality and ergonomics; two slanted chest pockets and two sleeve pockets on the upper arm allow for use with body armour/load bearing vests; a pouch in the elbow area allows for insertion of internal elbow pads; a 3-slot pen pocket is located on the lower left arm for easy access; the sleeve cuffs have Velcro closure/adjustment; the band collar can be secured in the up position with Velcro to keep out debris and protect the neck when wearing body armour/load bearing vests.  The ACU shirt is made to US government Military Specifications (mil. spec FQ/PD 04-04A) and sewn by a US Department of Defense contractor in an ISO 9001:2000 facility.  Made using a very comfortable and durable 100% Cotton Ripstop fabric and guaranteed against manufacturing defects.
